About Adikavi Nannaya University
Adikavi Nannaya University was established on 22 April 2006 by an Act of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly to cater to the higher education needs of the East and West Godavari districts.
It is an affiliating residential university with territorial jurisdiction over the East and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh.. It is named after the first poet of Telugu culture, Nannaya (translator of the Mahabharata from Sanskrit to Telugu in the eleventh century), court poet of King Raja Narendra (Eastern Chalukya king).
The university was established to fulfill the cherished dream of the people of this region on the holy banks of the river Godavari

The University Academics:
The university has four colleges on its main campus – University College of Arts and Commerce, University College of Engineering, University College of Education, and University College of Science and Technology that cater to the needs of the students on campus.
Adikavi Nannaya University has extension campuses at Kakinada (EG District) and Tadepalligudem (WG District). As far as the number of affiliated colleges is concerned, this university is the largest in the state of Andhra Pradesh, which affiliates around 450 colleges.
The dynamic semester-based courseware is designed by integrating the traditional curriculum with the latest trends in all subjects to suit the current industry, employability, and professional requirements.
Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is being implemented for all UG, PG, and Professional courses in the entire University. The University is on its way to establishing a strong research base and a culture of innovation.

The University Central Library
The central library of Adikavi Nannaya University is called the Dr. BR Ambedkar Central Library. Established in 2006, with a minimum of 100 books, the library today boasts over 100,000 books and other resources needed by students and scholars.
The library is spread over 3 floors and is located in the prestigious building in the heart of the campus. Apart from the working and stock areas of the library, there are several reading rooms open to students and scholars with comfortable seating arrangements to encourage reading and discussion. One of these reading rooms located on the ground floor is open 24/7 for the hostelers living on the campus.
The Dr. BR Ambedkar Central Library consists of domain-based sections, with major sections being Engineering, Science, Arts and Humanities, and Social and Management Sciences. The library has an impressive number of subscribers to all the leading and popular periodicals in these fields. To date, the library has subscribed to more than 1200 periodicals.

About College Development Council
UGC introduced the College Development Council (CDC) in universities to improve communication between the UGC/APSCHE/NCTE/AICTE/BCI/PCI and affiliated colleges.
The CDC serves as a unifying force within the University, bringing all affiliated colleges together to address their needs in a structured and transparent manner.
By ensuring that colleges adhere to the norms and regulations set forth by the UGC and other governing educational bodies at the national and state levels, the CDC strengthens colleges in all areas.
College Development Council at Adikavi Nannaya University
CDC was established in 2012 at Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) to provide help and guidance for proper planning and integrated development of affiliated colleges.
The CDC is dedicated to providing quality education to the younger generations through educational institutions located in East and West Godavari districts. They play an important role in promoting higher education standards.
One of their goals is to ensure that all institutions maintain proper infrastructure standards in relation to the courses they offer.
CDC implements educational regulations at all institutions.
Dean Research & Development Cell
The research policy of Adikavi Nannaya University applies to all constituent and affiliated colleges, departments, and PG centers.
The institute fosters a healthy research culture and provides support through a research framework. The university encourages faculty and scholars to engage in quality research.
The institution provides research facilities that include different instruments and equipment for innovative research activities in the constituent college departments.
The University consistently supports faculty, research scholars, and students in collaborating with various institutes for research projects, training, and internship programs at both national and international levels.
The eligibility criteria for faculty research guideship follow UGC and university norms.
University Research Program
The admission guidelines for research programs at the university are regularly updated to comply with UGC norms. Research scholars are admitted through the AP State Government Entrance Examination (APRCET) and APSCHE Guidelines.
To encourage faculty engagement in research work and publication of patents and articles in reputable journals, the institute provides seed money as a research allowance.
The Institute has a Departmental Research Committee (DRC) that oversees the allocation of seats in the Ph.D. program for each department.
The DRC also selects research topics for accepted research scholars, recommends syllabi for Pre-PhD coursework to the Board of Research Studies (BRS) for approval, and evaluates the progress of the research work of the scholars.
The University has established a research and development cell to encourage, promote, and coordinate research activities among its faculty and scholars. The University recognizes and commends those members who receive state and central awards and recognitions.
Additionally, financial support is provided to faculty members to attend or organize various conferences, workshops, and seminars at the national and international levels.
At the institute, a policy is in place to check for plagiarism using the Urkund software for all Ph.D. theses submitted by research scholars before the final evaluation by three external examiners, one of whom is from outside the country.
To ensure the dignity, rights, safety, and well-being of all research participants, the Research Ethics Committee is responsible for regulating the ethics policy.
In 2021, the university established a central instrumentation center equipped with research facilities such as equipment and instruments. This provides opportunities for PG project works and PhD programs. Additionally, the university offers access to online databases through JGATE and J-STOR portals for all faculty members, research scholars, and students, including those from affiliated colleges.
The Institute has recently introduced a new in-house publishing journal called Nannaya Vignana Bharathi.
The University has recognized affiliated colleges as research centers to collaborate and explore research programs.
