Introduction
Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women was founded in 1971 by the Management of S.S. Jain Girls School Committee (Registered). with the principles of women’s education and development in mind.

The founder, Behan Devki Devi Ji, was an esteemed educationist who had a dream of providing higher education to the children of Ludhiana’s backward industrial area, regardless of their class, caste, religion, or language.

Currently, over 1,500 students are receiving an education at this esteemed institution, where they are shaping their futures. These students are fortunate to have the support and guidance of a knowledgeable and passionate principal, Together, dedicated teachers and parents provide everything for students to become well-rounded individuals.

History of College

The Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women is named after Behan Devki Devi Jain, a renowned educationist of her era. She founded and served as the principal of Jain Girls Senior Secondary School on Rupa Mistri Street in Ludhiana for approximately 35 years.

With only five female students at its inception in 1918, the school flourished under her nurturing guidance and eventually emerged as a prominent educational institution for girls in the state.

A remarkable woman, Behan Ji, left a lasting legacy through her admirable actions and her family’s lineage. Although she passed away on April 8th, 1962, her name will never be forgotten. The local Jain community, especially the S. S. Jain Girls’ School Committee (Regd.), established a series of educational institutions in her honor.

Among these institutions are the Devki Devi Jain College for Women and the D. D. Jain College of Education. These establishments hold the treasured memory of Bal Bracamcharini Devki Devi Jain, a once-in-a-millennium type of person.

The managing committee of this college also runs other educational institutions and charitable trusts in Ludhiana.
