 National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (undergraduate) or NEET (UG), formerly All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) is Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) or Dentistry (BDS) and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) India courses for government and private institutions, and for those seeking basic medical qualifications abroad.

Testing will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and results will be sent to the Department of Health and Family Welfare’s Directorate General of Health Services and the State Advisory Board to assign seats.

NEET-UG has superseded the All India Premedical Examination (AIPMT) conducted by states and various medical colleges. However, it was unable to run in 2014 and 2015 due to lawsuits against the test.

NEET UG is one of the most comprehensive exams in India in terms of registered applicants.

NEET-UG is a single entrance exam for admission to MBBS and BDS universities across India.

After the NMC Act 2019 came into force in September 2019, NEET-UG became the sole entrance exam for admission to medical colleges in India. Which includes AIIMS and the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. Which used to conduct the exam separately till then.

                                Introduction-

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), now known as the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GOI), has established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous, and self-sustaining premier testing.                       The Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), now known as the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GOI), has established the National Testing Authority (NTA) as an independent, autonomous, self-testing agency. was established To conduct efficient, transparent, and internationally standardized examinations to assess the competence of candidates for admission to top-level higher education institutions, and major Supporting test organizations.

National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) has been administered by the National Tax Agency for admission to basic medical training since 2019 with the approval of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (O.M. No. V.11025/14 /216). -MEP (dated 6 December 2017) and MHRD (see Order No. 35-5/2017 TS.I dated 24 September 2018)

 

                          Eligibility Criteria-

 NMC and DCI are: 5.1.1 At the time of enrollment she has reached the age of 17 years or she will have completed that age by 31st December in the year she entered her first year of medical school. Therefore, the lower age limits are:  For  General (UR)/General EWS Candidates Born Before December 31, 2005 For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD Category Candidates

Upper Age Limit: According to Letter No. U-11022/2/2022 UGMEB  dated  9 March 2022, the Board of Graduate Medical Education regarding the upper age limit that should exist received from the National Medical Commission (NMC).  Upper age limit as determined at the 4th NMC Conference on October 21, 2021 (UG) under (UGMEB).

       Criteria for NRI/OCI/Foreigners-

                                                        Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and Foreigners shall be admitted to medical/dental colleges in accordance with their respective rules and regulations. qualified to do so.  Exam Schedule-

                             OBC-NCL (Other Subclass)-NCL (Non-Creamy Stratum) follows the Central List of Other Subclasses available from the National Board on Subclasses. Candidates falling into this list (available at http://www.ncbc.nic.in/ ) can mention OBC-NCL in the category column. National OBC-NCL candidates who are not on the OBC-NCL (Central List) should select General.
