Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Government College, Sri Ganganagar, is a co-educational institution that has been a trailblazer in offering educational opportunities to students hailing from rural and economically weaker sections of society in and around Sri Ganganagar.
Initially established as a secondary school in 1939 by Maharaja Ganga Singh, it was upgraded to an intermediate college in 1946 and further elevated to a higher seat of learning in 1954, offering graduation courses in arts and later in 1960, in science.
The college started offering post-graduate studies in 1968. In 2009, the State Government changed the name of the college from Government College to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Government College.
The college was originally affiliated with the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Later in 1987, the affiliation was moved to M.D.S. University, Ajmer.
In 2003, the Government of Rajasthan ordered the college to be affiliated with the University of Bikaner, which is now known as Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner.
Currently, the college is a leading academic institution that offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, M.Phil, and Ph.D. degrees in various disciplines.
